The Vietnam Electronics Design Competition 2026, abbreviated as VEDC 2026, is an annual academic playing field led by the Radio and Electronics Association of Vietnam. This year's theme is Embedded AI for Smart IoT Systems, continuing the success of the Vietnam Electronics Design Competition 2025 with the theme Embedded Systems and IoT Technology.

Amid the strong momentum of digital transformation and the convergence of electronics design, embedded systems, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, building a hands-on academic environment has become more essential than ever. The competition guides students nationwide to research, design, and bring to life electronic products that apply smart embedded systems combined with IoT technology to solve real-life problems, with priority given to fields such as industry, agriculture, environment, healthcare, education, transportation, and smart cities.

Organizers and Sponsors

The competition is hosted by the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology under the University of Danang, in coordination with Le Quy Don Technical University and the University of Science under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Objectives

The competition ignites a passion for research and creativity among students in the fields of Electronics and Telecommunications, Information Technology, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and related disciplines. Through the journey from idea to finished product, students develop skills in research, design, practice, and teamwork, while gaining access to practical technology and digital transformation trends. Beyond its training value, the competition also strengthens cooperation among universities, colleges, professional organizations, and enterprises in identifying and cultivating high-quality technical human resources for the country.

Eligibility and Format of Participation

The competition is open to students currently studying at universities, academies, and colleges across the country. Each team consists of two to five students, each team may register only one product idea, and a student serving as the leader of one team may only participate as a member of another team. Each team is encouraged to have an instructor serve as an academic advisor from their training institution.

Three Rounds of Competition

The competition takes place over three rounds. The preliminary round reviews design ideas across the three regions of the North, Central, and South, receiving applications online until June 30, 2026, and announcing the results before July 11, 2026, thereby selecting the 30 teams with the most outstanding ideas to advance to the semi-final. The semi-final round is held from October 19 to 24, 2026, across the three regions, where teams design, build, and demonstrate their products before the regional panel, each team receiving VND 2 million in support to purchase components, and the 10 most outstanding teams earn a place in the final. The final round is held in person at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology in Danang, expected on November 25, 2026, where teams defend and demonstrate their completed products before the national panel of judges and invited enterprise guests, with results announced immediately after the round and awards presented at the closing ceremony.

Prize Structure

The competition awards one First Prize worth VND 20 million, two Second Prizes of VND 10 million each, three Third Prizes of VND 6 million each, four Consolation Prizes of VND 3 million each, along with three Special Prizes of VND 1 million each for the most creative, most popular, and most promising application products, voted by the panel and the audience. Each prize comes with a certificate.

Significance of the Competition

With its profound academic and practical significance and the support of many reputable enterprises and professional organizations, the Vietnam Electronics Design Competition 2026 is not merely an academic activity but also a bridge between education and enterprise needs, while promoting the startup and innovation movement among students and gradually forming an innovation ecosystem within universities and colleges nationwide.
